Moving successfully into holistic-review means that you have developed and honed new understandings of yourself and how you are uniquely shaped for your respective healthcare profession. This workshop will give you perspective on writing with a genuine voice and what it means to be definitionally unique in a professional health school application -- whether medicine, dentistry, physician's assistant, nursing, etc.

For better-or-worse, direct-entry BSN programs for rising seniors are about as high-stakes as it gets, with some schools admitting at <1%. This session is for the high school students and their families. It will give you a baseline for what to know about direct-admission and what you can do to stand-out in a highly selective process.

This session will be co-facilitated by a professor of medicine who served as chair of the admissions committee at a Tier 1 Medical School through the 2026 admissions cycle and the designer of holistic review at a top-4 Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesia program. Students will learn about the various possibilities in holistic review and how schools determine what is weighed in the process of selection. This session is critical.

May 5, 2027
This session, for high school students with medical school aspirations, will be facilitated by an assistant dean of pathway programs at a Tier I medical school with an early selection program. This session will differentiate Early Selection programs from General Admission, and will propose that some learners are better positioned in General Admission, after completion of an undergraduate degree. Learners and their parents will become aware of what selection criteria looks like dependent on school type and mission and how to prepare for this early high-stakes option.
